Me

what you see is what you get

I'm told there's a warmth about me; I'm genuine, down to earth and content to be myself, whomever I'm around.

It's not uncommon for people to open up to me, friends and strangers alike.  Whether I'm standing at the checkout or stumbling my way through the woods on my (daily) walk; people talk to me.  I think it's because I'm genuinely interested in your story; because that's what being human is all about - interactions.

Each of us is a unique interaction of biography, biology and behaviour.  I believe we are much more than what we eat. The person we have become, physically and emotionally, has developed over a lifetime.

We are the outcome of our story so far.  Our state of being is a reflection of what we have been through.  I'm no different. I've experienced a number of twists and turns in my life that brought me to be here, listening deeply to the story of others.  I've spent a lifetime observing behaviour and sensing what lies beneath.  Working with you is where I bring that learning to good use with compassion, empathy and humour.

Understanding your story from a whole person, whole-life perspective, is what I do well.  Interpreting it into a practical set of steps to bring about a positive change in the trajectory of your path is what (I think) I do even better.  Looking forwards whilst keeping an eye on where you came from.

I aim to do that with a sense of honesty, clarity and fun.

Immediately on qualifying, I joined a multi-disciplinary complementary healthcare practice providing 1:1 nutrition support direct to clients. The collaborative nature of the clinic enabled me to work in partnership with other complementary health practitioners to also support their clients' health.  Here, my belief that there is no one-size-fits-all approach, was deepened.

Experiencing the impact of numerous additional, complementary health modalities on patient health developed my ability to recognise which of them might prove useful in particular situations.

I have worked in large public sector and industry organisations in accounting, systems audit, risk management and business operations.  I've also worked for sole traders and partnerships providing business & bookkeeping support.

I continue to act in an accounting capacity for myself, my family's business, and for other small business owners on a part-time basis.

Many of my accounting and business related skills support my nutrition & lifestyle coaching role, providing me with an ability to understand a broad range of working experiences and their impact on health & wellbeing.

I continue to take a professional approach to my work which is reflected in the support I give to business clients and in the documentation I produce for all of my nutrition clients.

Digital Graphics & Business Creative

I have spent a number of years in collaboration with Max Gooding Ltd creating a library of power-packed digital animations which distil over 85 proven psychological and behavioural concepts, frameworks, tools & techniques, called noodle™.

Integrating this learning with both my nutrition & lifestyle expertise, and business & accounting acumen has further broadened my coaching skill base.

Personal Experience

I have an eclectic mix of skills. I also have a lot of personal life experiences to draw upon. My timeline of events, matched to a timeline of health impacts, demonstrates how biography affects biology. I find that to be true for a lot of people.

I spent a number of years from teenage through to my early 30s playing netball at county, regional and national level so I understand the impact of nutrition on health and performance.

In my early 30s I developed sudden digestive health issues in response to an unfortunate experience in my personal life.   Nutrition, along with complementary health therapies including herbal medicine, chiropractic, acupuncture and reflexology, supported, managed, and largely resolved my digestive symptoms.  My experiences led me to study Nutrition as a career and allow me to empathise well with how it feels to have to make significant changes to nutrition and lifestyle.

As a mum, now in my 50s, I have worked my way through perimenopause to menopause.  This experience was interesting to say the least, even with a great deal of knowledge to hand!  I have a particular interest in digestion and I recognise the huge pressures to continue as normal during the perimenopause transition phase.  Consequently, rather than specialising in health concerns,  I take a whole person, whole life approach to supporting women to regain their balance and often, to find themselves anew.

My interest lies in the uniqueness of you.
